God's leading. . .

Well, Friday has passed and there is not change in our visa status or
even a positive response about it happening.

I called the embassy multiple times each day this week using all 8
numbers that I have, including two lines to the officers.  I probably
called 20 - 30 times each day.  No one ever answered.  We talked to
Travisa again and apparently the only way they have to communicate
with the embassy is by bicycle courier (seriously).  They sent a
letter with him on Friday morning and I got a call Friday evening (a
few minutes after closing time) stating that nothing had changed in
the status of our visa.  They didn't have any new information about
what was going on.  They told us what we need to do to get our
passports back.

This is a really hard decision to make.  We have prayed about this a
lot and I know many other people are also.  We asked God to guide us
give us just some positive info from the embassy if he was still
leading that direction, and he didn't. We have to believe that he
heard our prayers and that he had a better plan.  It is hard to think of
not coming there. But it seems that it is not what God wants for us
right now.  I don't know why he opened this door to start with.  And I
don't know that he is closing it for good.

Let me share some other things that have been happening here also.
Before we contacted Bill for the first time last March we sent
applications to International Childrens Care (ICC).   They told us  that at
the time they didn't have any openings. (They have over 20 projects
around the world).  I was specifically interested in the El Salvador
orphanage, both because I knew someone who went there and I have
always wanted to learn Spanish.

A few weeks ago, while waiting on this third application and
wonder what God wanted us to do,  We got an email from ICC asking if
we were still available.  We told them our situation and that we
didn't really know.  She said they had a possible opening in El
Salvador and that we could send them three references if we were
interested. They have projects all over, it is interesting that the
one that I had an interest in before was the only one to have an
opening.  We figured it couldn't hurt and started asking people for to
send references to them.

The Wednesday before last Crissy and I fasted and prayed about our
situation seeking guidance.  Crissy asked God to have someone email us
that day (we had spoken with a few other orphanages in the previous
weeks also) or the embassy contact us that day and give a direction
that we should go in.  It wasn't untill the next day that I checked
our email and found a letter from the director in El Salvador.  This
was actually the last person we expected to contact us.  He wanted our
number so he could call us and interview us over the phone.  We
suddenly realized that we were really going to have to make some big
decisions. I  suggested that as another fleece, If he told us that he
needed us right away that that would be a sign that God was leading.
I sent him our phone number the next day and that same evening we were
surprised when he called.  After talking to him for a while I asked
when he would want us to come, he said as soon as we could. and
offered us the positions.
We decided to give it a week and pray that God would lead us by
giving us something positive from the embassy about our visas if we
really were meant to go to India.

So this is where we find ourselves.  I do feel like God is leading us,
though it is not at all like I imagined he would.  I don't know what
God's long term plans are. But I think, for whatever reason, he has
some work for us to do, and some things for us to learn, in Central
America.

You can find out more info about where we are planning on going
at the ICC website.  There are lots of pictures at this other site made by
a Student Missionary who visited.

God's got quite a resource in you guys.  All he has to do, is tell you where to go, answer three fleeces (with appropriate waiting periods in between) and you guy's'll do anything! :)  Sounds like your direction is pretty clear.  God bless.
