So Christopher,

Now that you got the studio up and running, and have learned the virtues of gentoo, what do you say about reviving the Steps to Christ Project? That topic has been starting to weigh on my heart. With podcasting, i think you would find that the audiance is far greater than you might think. . . .

Do you need help with it? I have a few people in mind that I would like to get started on some spoken word projects. Now that i have my own portable rig, we could get even more efficent.

Anyone else have any ideas for spoken word projects?

The STC project is in fact alive though presently neglected. We have several chapters recorded that need editing work done on them. Crissy is doing the narration.

Probably the biggest holdup to this and our other project at Paulington Studio is lack of engineering time; too much recording and not enough mixing and mastering. Interested in helping?

What kind of portable rig do you have? What other spoken word projects are you considering

What about using a format similar to  "This American Life"?

RE: STC Alive

Glad to hear that the project is still going, I might be able to assist. Do you have any chapters completed? Maybe we cold start releasing one every couple of weeks.

As for my portable setup its an Octava MK 219 Mic, Samson Mixpad 4. I also use a minidisk recorder and a Shotgun mic salvaged from a very high end video camera for ultra portable stuff. I have a USB sound card that I use to get a nice clean signel with my laptops. Nothing that is too hardcore, but it gets the job done quite well, esp when compressed to MP3...

AS for other projects, I love the whole aproach of This American Life and the Story Corps project. I think that Every one has an intresting story to share, some have a whole lot. My only problem is that I am not a very good interviewer. But i guess that alot of that is just practice. Just got to be bolder i guess.

The other idea that i have been kicking around is some of the older books that are in the public domain. E. M. Bounds or other EGW books. I would love to be able to get to the point where I could release a podcast 4-5 times a week that people could use as a devotional. There are SOOOO many people out there that listen to podcasts on their commute. Maybe a chapter from the bible and the associated chapter from bible commentary? All kinds of potential fun stuff.
