Christina called me a few minutes ago to excitedly tell me that the house destroyed the $700B bailout bill! I couldn't believe me ears. I pulled up several main-stream news sites, and sure enough, it's defeated. Of course the MSM made it sound like a bad thing: "House fails to pass Rescue." Well, for once the American people win.
We shouldn't think this is over, however; the economy is still in shambles thanks to years of government intervention. The market has been hugely over priced, and there will be pain as the market self-corrects. But if we can keep the government out of the details, we're looking at a much shorter depression. My fear is that as things get worse, the government will tell us: "See, we told you we needed a 'rescue.'" Well folks, just 'cause it is bad, doesn't mean that it couldn't be worse. DON'T LET THE GOVERNMENT MESS WITH THE ECONOMY.
Now, the economy still has a huge security breach with the government: The Federal Reserve. The next step is to get congress to abolish this giant counterfeiting machine.

You are right on Christopher. It feels good to see this thing go down! Now if only we could get rid of the presidential candidates.
Here is a clear and to the point explanation why this bailout bill is bad news.
