Ephesians 1:1-10

There is a group of us here in New Market that are meeting to study the book of Ephesians. We've met 3 times, and covered 10 verses. We will be sharing here some of what we are discovering together. Feel free to comment or add to the discussion...

Ephesians was written to the faithful in Christ Jesus...

(list below found in Eph. 1:3-10):

In Christ, we are...

  • given every spiritual blessing
  • chosen
  • holy & blameless in God's sight
  • predestined for adoption
  • freely given glorious grace/grace is lavished on us
  • given redemption
  • forgiven of our sins
  • the mystery of God's will is revealed to us
  • gathered together/in unity (future?)

What an amazing list!!

Some questions for further study:

Adoption-why is it necessary, what does it mean, etc.

Is the unity and being gathered together sometime in the future/when is the fulness of time?

Feel free to add more comments or questions!

adoption

We spent some more time discussing and studying this topic last week.  These were two of our questions:

1. Are all people God's sons and daughters, or do we only become His children through adoption when we believe?

2. If we become his sons and daughters when we believe, what about little children?

We studied this out and came to some ideas, but would love to hear others thoughts on this as well. Anyone want to share from their personal study? I'll add our thoughts later...I'm going to go look up references first!

I am afraid I don't

I am afraid I don't understand the meaning of 1 John 3:10. Can someone help me with this. Also 3:8 and 3:9. Anyone out there who does not sin? Anyone out there a child of God?
